A disturbing video from the reported NIT Surat College surfaced on social media, sparking outrage and some serious concerns about ragging and bullying within educational institutions. The shared video on Reddit by the user r/Btechtards showed the senior student assaulting the junior physically with a belt.
Even though the exact college was not confirmed at the time the video was posted, many Redditors speculated that it occurred in NIT Surat. The video even ignited a wave of anger while calling for accountability and demanding strict actions against perpetrators.
Junior Student’s Remarkable Resilience Against Assault
In the video shared, it can be seen that the junior is maintaining calm despite facing bullying and intimidation from the senior. He consistently refused to comply with the demands of the senior, asking the junior to either sit down or cry while the onlookers laughed or remained silent spectators of the event. The junior, however, bravely refused to comply with the orders. He’s seen repeatedly saying, “Nai rounga” (I will not cry), even after being provoked by his senior, who beat him with the belt.
The video further showed how the denial and the quiet resistance from the junior made the senior increasingly aggressive, escalating to multiple hits made by him on the student with a belt while the other students intervened to stop.
Social Media Reactions Calls for Justice While Highlighting Outrage
The video surfaced and sparked some intense reactions on Reddit as the users expressed both admiration and anger for the resilience shown by the junior student. A user on Reddit commented, “This is not bullying. This is your fragile ego getting shattered into a thousand pieces right in front of your face.

The guy getting beaten resisted it calmly and didn’t obey anything the bully told him. Now show this video to the authorities, and this guy is done for.”
Some other users even praised the student’s composure by writing, “Respect for the junior. The guys at the back were laughing at this.”
Another Reddit user highlighted such incidents’ psychological impact, stating, “Imagine 10/15 boys harassing you and beating you with a belt. In the future, he might suffer from depression and anxiety, or even commit suicide. Whose fault is that? The college, the government, or the students harassing him? The Indian government should take serious action against ragging and harassment in colleges.”
The given incident has raised a lot of questions about ragging prevalence within higher educational institutions, with a user pointing, “If this is happening in a tier-1 college like NIT Surat, imagine what students in tier-3 or tier-4 colleges are going through.” Many have called for the senior student to face severe consequences, with comments like, “This guy should go viral and get suspended.”
Matter intimated to the College Authorities!
A redditor has posted a screenshot which suggests that the matter has been intimitated to the college authorities about the incident and there is another screenshot which may suggest that the authorities might be trying to brush the matter under the carpet by suspending all the students involved in the matter, however nothing can be confirmed or verified yet!
However, it is yet to be seen what actions the college authorities will take. Redditors are demanding immediate suspension of the senior student who was beating the junior student with belt.

With the video continuing to circulate, it reignited a debate on the need to have strict anti-ragging measures and to enforce the existing laws better to protect students from these harassments. The authorities have yet not commented on this incident. However, the public outcry suggests the case wouldn’t be forgotten easily.
