Yami Gautam on Overcoming Discomfort with Using Abusive Words

The actress known for her graceful persona, faced some unique challenges when she was filming Dhoom Dhaam, a movie scheduled to be released on 14th February 2025 on Netflix. While she initially considered replacing harsh words with non-offensive gibberish conversations, the film Producers and Directors helped her in appreciating the dialogue’s significance for the authenticity of the character. She ultimately made the decision to embrace the role completely, and the backing from the entire crew helped her overcome a difficult dialogue.

“I don’t like to say cuss words and neither I like to hear them in my vicinity. I get very uncomfortable. I don’t understand why cuss words are necessary. But in some regions, they are not considered cuss words but a way to talk. I am not comfortable, that’s my personal choice.”

“After reading the script, I had wanted to do this character……………… When I started doing practice a day before shoot, I couldn’t speak those cuss words. I spoke to Aditya is it ok if we change those words to something else? I will give you with a same intensity but with a different dialogue. But Aditya told me that this is the script and these (cuss words) are very important. ” Yamini said during the podcast.

While in talks, she recounted how committed she was to her performance, ensuring the scene’s intensity was not lost. The experience she had underscored the adaptability of Yami and her ability in balancing the professional requirements with the personal beliefs.
